DAY 3: A war update

A newsletter by Meira K | June 15, 2025

Hey fam, it’s day 3 of the Iran war and day 618 of the Gaza war. Here’s everything you need to know.

(This is an extra extra long edition as there is A LOT of ground to cover about this past weekend. Bare with me!)

Over the last two nights, Iran launched over 200 ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones at Israel. Major cities like Tel Aviv, Rehovot, Bat Yam, and Tamra were hit. Even the Kirya, Israel’s military HQ, took fire. Thirteen Israeli civilians were killed in their homes from ballistic missiles sent by Iran. Among the victims: an 8-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a teenager, and a mother with her daughters.

As of now, over 200 others were lightly injured. Three remain missing. Tens of civilian buildings have been hit directly as Iran targets civilians specifically. Schools are closed. Gatherings banned. Airspace shut.

Most Israelis spent the night in bomb shelters - where, once again, our MAMADs did their job. They absorbed direct hits and saved lives.

We expected thousands of missiles. Iran fired 200. That alone shows the strength of our preparations.

But let's pull back for a second and explain the context.

Night One: The Most Precise Attack in Israeli Military History

Thursday night at 3 a.m., in a total surprise move, over 200 Israeli aircraft launched a coordinated five-wave strike deep into Iran to eliminate their nuclear abilities.

This wasn’t a show of force. It was a demonstration of total strategic control.

  • Over 100 top-value targets were hit

  • 330+ precision bombs were dropped

  • Nuclear enrichment halls in Natanz, Fordow, Arak, and Esfahan were struck

  • 40+ air defense systems, 20+ missile launchers, 20+ radar/command centers were wiped out

  • 9 nuclear scientists and 20+ IRGC commanders confirmed dead

  • Tehran’s skies were left defenseless

It was a multi-pronged attack, targeting their leadership, military, missile abilities, nuclear abilities, communication systems, air defense, and financial system.

The idea? Not only can Iran not have nuclear abilities ever, but we need to help get this dictatorship overthrown and minimize attacks on Israel.

Not a single Israeli pilot was harmed. Iran’s entire airspace was breached and dominated - with no resistance.

The IDF now holds full operational control over the skies above Tehran.

Israeli jets are flying with confidence - without resistance.

And in that first wave, Israel didn’t just hit infrastructure. It hit Iran's morale and illusion of control.

This wasn’t retaliation. This was the start of a dismantling.

How The Mossad Helped Make This Happen

Mossad has been preparing this campaign for months. Or years, from October 7th.

Covert operations placed drone systems, precision strike weapons, and explosives inside Iran in advance - disguised as vehicle parts and plumbing supplies. We built a drone factory, took over trucks, and placed Mossad operatives throughout all of Iran.

When the operation began, these embedded systems activated in sync with IAF airstrikes, hitting Iran’s SAMs, SSMs, and radar systems from within - targeting important personnel based on months of data collected by a unit built just for this.

One safe house in Tehran became the launch point for drone strikes on Iranian missile bases.

If you thought the beeper attack was sophisticated, this blows that out of the water.

And why do we know all this when the Mossad keeps this stuff silent? Simply to prove to the world - and the Iranian people - how weak the Islamic Republic is, in hopes that they will have the morale to topple them.

Israel’s Goal: Not Revenge, but Restraint Through Strength

Prime Minister Netanyahu said the mission is clear: Neutralize Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities. And remove the Ayatollah from power. Why? So that they don't just start building again. The threat is not just physical - it's ideological - and that needs to end now.

In action, though, this means:

  • Radar and air defenses dismantled

  • Missile sites destroyed before launch

  • Strategic command centers disabled

  • Nuclear enrichment facilities set back

  • Oil and gas infrastructure targeted

  • Leadership eliminated

This isn’t escalation for the sake of war (remember we are still fighting all the other fronts) - it's about changing the Middle East.

Please stay in your bomb shelters. As you can see, they save lives! Source: Amit Segal’s channel.

The Islamic Republic: A Quick Primer

Since 1979, Iran has been ruled by an Islamic theocracy. Its ideology: destroy Israel, export the Islamic revolution.

To do that, it built a network of terror groups:

  • Hezbollah

  • Hamas

  • Islamic Jihad

  • Houthis

  • Shi’ite militias across the region

Until now, Iran acted through proxies. Today, finally, the time for that is done.

Why Now?

Israel avoided direct conflict with Iran for years - using quiet sabotage instead of open war. Why? Because the price we would need to pay if we started attacking them was too high. Also, we never had legitimacy to do it, and the international community would have made us pay a very high price.

But the scale of October 7 and Iran’s boldness changed that thinking. It became clear that they would use the nukes if they got them, and we just couldn't allow that.

This is part of why we have worked so hard on improving our air defense systems like the Iron Dome.

And diplomacy? Well, we waited to see if Trump would win, and when it became clear that he would, we started prep.

Israel launched a campaign to do what no one else was willing to do: stop Iran’s nuclear march before it’s too late.

And surprisingly? The world is starting to thank us behind closed doors.

The U.S. knew about the plans for the attack - but we’ll cover that another time.

But we don’t need private thanks. We need U.S. intervention.

Here is why:

Fordow: The Site Still Standing

One nuclear site remains: Fordow. It’s deep in a mountain. Only U.S. bunker-buster bombs can reach it.

Will the U.S. act? Trump’s recent comments suggest yes. But even if they won’t act militarily, they might be able to get Iran back on the negotiating table to prevent them from rebuilding.

Knowing how Arabs work, this is unlikely. We hurt Iran's pride, and they're not just going to give up now. Look at Hamas. But you never know - maybe they will just accept defeat.

Kudos to Netanyahu

He’s warned about Iran for decades - often alone. Now, after October 7, with both the urgency and public support, he moved.

This plan was drawn up in November. Executed in June. Even top ministers were kept out of the loop.

Now:

  • Hamas is weakened

  • Hezbollah’s command structure has collapsed

  • Iran is absorbing direct strikes

  • His accomplishments are remarkable, despite having almost reached the end of his career multiple times.

I often say - it’s not about October 7th, it's about how we respond. And I believe this response will be how he is remembered.

We are watching a complete miraculous shift in the Middle East, and the energy is palpable.

Yes, it’s scary. Yes, we have hard times ahead. But we will win. And the world will be a much better place when we do.

Stay informed. Stay safe.
We’ll be back soon with more.
